The calm before the storm.















This picture was sent to me by rachel (that yellow thing). It was taken in perak, west malaysia. Me (left), Rachel andthe big tree looking like monster on the right were the chosen few to go on this journey. It was so fun!

The reason why iom posting this picture today is the green confetti we are wearing. See those things that look like bra straps? They are actually made from leaves, like woven rfom palm leaves. So amazing!

They were gifts given to us by the orang asli for us to join in their tribal dance. I remembered them making these things for us in the afternoon. There would be a gigantic pile of leaves and they would be slowly weaving them into these wwonderful albeit shortlived souvenirs. I tried to smuggle one back to singapore and for a few days it was on my table. Until it started to decompose.

There's a certain rustic charm to the lives the people lead. they are seemingly satisfied with the dilapitated huts they live in and the third world conditions, slimy toilets and all. NO shopping centres, no EPL, no pretty girls in miniskirts, no alcohol, no zara, no topman, no NIKE and no sukisushi. How do they do this?
It sounds so cliched to say that i want to give it all up and return to nature. BUt that appeals to me in a twisted way. When im eighty?
Haha.
